3D Additive Solutions, in partnership with Central Technology , is transforming Irish education by bringing state-of-the-art 3D printing, scanning, and laser-cutting technology to schools nationwide. At the heart of this initiative is Joe Coogan, a seasoned educational advocate with a distinguished history of supporting Irish schools. Joe was instrumental in introducing SOLIDWORKS to secondary schools in collaboration with the Department of Education and T4 in 2008, facilitating the growth of Design and Communication Graphics (DCG) as a cornerstone subject.Joe’s dedication to education extends beyond the classroom. As a former judge for regional and national F1 in Schools competitions and an active contributor to Science Week, he has consistently supported initiatives that inspire innovation among students. Currently a part-time lecturer in Design, Material Science, and Additive Manufacturing at TU Dublin, Joe continues to shape the future of young minds through education and innovation. In partnership with Central Technology, the Official Irish Reseller and Service Centre for Creality, 3D Additive Solutions is driving the "Creality Schools" initiative. Backed by Creality, this program provides cutting-edge technology and comprehensive teacher training tailored for Irish schools.Exciting News for 2025We are thrilled to announce the first-ever Creality-supported 3D Printing Competition, open to all Irish primary and secondary schools. This competition will showcase student creativity and skill in 3D design and manufacturing, fostering the next generation of innovators. For more information, reach out to us at education@3das.ie or info@centraltechnology.ie.

Since its integration into Irish secondary schools in 2008, SOLIDWORKS has become a cornerstone of technical education. Introduced alongside the Design and Communication Graphics (DCG) Leaving Certificate subject, it revolutionized how students conceptualize and articulate their design ideas. This powerful combination fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, linking classroom learning directly to real-world engineering and design practices. As the subject evolved, so did its potential. The transition from virtual modeling to physical creation was a natural progression, and 3D printing emerged as the perfect partner to SOLIDWORKS. By turning digital designs into tangible prototypes, schools across Ireland embraced 3D printing with enthusiasm, initially leveraging earlier technologies from Ultimaker and Sindoh to produce remarkable projects. A Revolution in 3D Printing for Schools The world of 3D printing has seen remarkable advancements. Modern printers now deliver faster production speeds, larger build volumes, and even multi-color capabilities.Creality, a leader in this evolving field, has made cutting-edge technology more accessible and affordable for Irish schools. This allows students to work with industry-standard tools, equipping them with the skills needed for future careers in engineering, product design, and manufacturing. Creality’s Commitment to Education Creality goes beyond simply supplying high-quality machines. Their dedication to supporting education is evident through:

Affordable Pricing: Ensuring schools can invest in the latest technology without overextending budgets.

Comprehensive Support in Ireland: Providing local service to reduce downtime and keep classrooms productive.

Teacher-Focused Curriculum: Offering tailored resources to help educators seamlessly integrate 3D printing into lessons.

Online Training Programs: Empowering teachers with the knowledge and skills to maintain and operate 3D printers effectively.

Preparing Students for the Future By combining the power of SOLIDWORKS with Creality’s advanced 3D printing technology, Irish secondary schools are leading the charge in educational innovation.

Students can now bridge the gap between digital design and physical manufacturing, bringing their ideas to life in a way that is both functional and inspiring.

This partnership of state-of-the-art software, accessible hardware, and dedicated educational support ensures Ireland remains at the forefront of STEM education. T

Together, these tools are inspiring the next generation of thinkers, creators, and innovators, preparing them to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
